Male Survivors of Sexual Assault |
|
Most people believe that sexual assault is something that only happens to women, but men can be sexually assaulted, too.
Sexual assault against men can occur in many ways: by a stranger, a group of strangers, or by someone they know. Men can be sexually assaulted by women, but more often it is by other men.
Just like attacks against women, mens' attackers use weapons, physical force, or the threat of force. Other causes are blackmail or threatening a victim into submission with a position of authority. Excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs can prevent victims from fighting back.
Unfortunately few men actually get help after being sexually assaulted.
If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, Call RDVIC: (304) 292-5100. |
