Remote Victim Outreach Program
The Remote Victim Outreach Program in Monongalia County, WV, allows survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to file for court protection and attend hearings remotely. The program operates from the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center and was launched in November 2024 to provide a safer alternative to in-person court appearances. Survivors can participate in the program by visiting the RDVIC office in Morgantown, where they can file petitions and attend follow-up hearings via video conference.
How It Works
Access from RDVIC: Survivors can go to the RDVIC office in Morgantown to use the remote court services.
Remote participation: The program allows petitioners to appear at court hearings remotely via video, eliminating the need to be in the same physical location as an abuser.
Safer court access: The initiative was designed to provide a safer and more secure way for survivors to seek justice, as in-person court can be intimidating.
Program availability: Remote sessions are available on weekdays, generally from 9 a.m. to 3 or 4 p.m..
