Sexual Violence Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is observed every October to raise awareness of the issue, support survivors, and educate the public on how to recognize and prevent abuse. Click below for our schedule of events and how you can become involved.

Monster Mash

A family-friendly event for families and children to celebrate the holiday safely, playing games, doing crafts and having fun in a non-abusive environment. At the end of the night, we hold a candlelight vigil for victims of domestic violence and an official reads the city proclamation dedicating October to Domestic Violence Awareness month.

Walking with Survivors

April is nationally recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and, as such, RDVIC hosts an annual "Walking With Survivors" event (formerly known as "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes") to raise awareness of this issue and to come together as a community to show our support for survivors. In addition to being our annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month event, this is RDVIC's annual fundraising event.

Paint the Town Purple

Throughout the month of October, RDVIC participates in this National Domestic Violence Awareness campaign for the purpose of community awareness and education.
